How to play Dominoes

Start Dominoes by looking at the playing area and its controls. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Look at what changes after your first action.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Step by step

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

A useful example

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
